Denice Evans-Sheppard is the C.E.O and founder of Whispering Spirit Cultural Tours. These tours highlight the efforts of Indigenous and African American communities and their historical contributions throughout Long Island’s existence. In the past, Long Island had thriving industries such as whaling, oystering and agriculture, that generated the economy throughout the North and South Shores of Long Island. Whispering Spirit Cultural Tours highlights these hidden communities and  uncovers their historical past.

Denice currently serves as the Executive Director of the Oyster Bay Historical Society in which she loves to engage the community in culture, history and education. She lives in Pine Hollow, one of the oldest descendant communities in Oyster Bay which her family has owned since the 1800’s that has been passed down throughout generations. Denice currently resides in the home that her great great grandfather, David Carll, built in 1865 who had served in the USCT 26th Regiment.
