Host Ellen Kamhi, PhD, RN, interviewed Chelsea Marando about where food comes from and how to grow them in sustainably.

Chelsea’s background includes a BA in American History, studies in Environmental Sciences, Marine biology, Bio-fuels, and Agrisciences. Chelsea and her family faced economic ruin when both she and her husband lost their jobs. Chelsea really grabbed the bull by the horns, and turned challenge into opportunity. She rallied her resources and decided to rebuild by establishing Marando farms.

Marando Farms is the only working farm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A 1 acre urban farm in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Marando has become a hub resource in the community, with 42 rescued farm animals; fresh organic food grown through hydroponics, aquacultures and soil based methods, a monthly co-op, CSA (community supported agriculture), bee-keeping, rain harvesting, initiation of community gardens with schools, churches and private/public organizations. Marando Farms help organizations foster the passion of where food comes from and how to grow it.
