DESCRIPTION

This class is one of four included in the full Natural Nurse Herbal Certification Course. Students may register for a single class, or for the full four-part series. When you buy the entire series, you save $25 on the total price and have 18 CUEs available. The individual classes are $50 each. Each class has 3 CEUs available, with the Continuing Education fee required for each one, and a total of 12 CEUs when purchased individually. Join nurse and herbalist Ellen Kamhi for the second part of a four part series.

“Botany & Botanical Nomenclature” can be taken as a stand alone class or as the second required class in the 4 part Natural Nurse Herbal Certification Course.

Natural Nurse Herbal Certification Course:

This 4 class course, offered by nurse and herbalist Ellen Kamhi, RN, is designed to offer flexibility for beginning or advanced herbal students. Use this series of classes to ignite your inspiration towards better health with practical plant-based tools.  Students may register for a single class, or for the full four-part series.  

This class meets for four Sundays over a four month period, from 9:30 am-11:00 am.  The class will be live online with the instructor in real time. It will be interactive with question and answer sessions.  If you miss a class, you can make it up anytime before the end of the course, by calling into the recording of the class.

The instructor will email the Call-in information the day before class, along with links to Power Points and other learning tools/instructional materials we will use during class.
Assignments can be emailed to instructor.

Host Dr. Eugene Zampieron, ND, AHG , www.drznaturally.com, interviews botanist Judith Sumner. On todays show, we will discuss Plants Go to War: A Botanical History of World War II – a look at military history from a botanical perspective, and the images say it all: From victory gardens and agriculture to rubber, coal, paper, timber, drugs, and fibers, plant products supplied the wartime materials that played key roles in victory.

Judith specializes in ethnobotany, flowering plants, plant adaptations, and garden history. She has taught extensively both at the college level and at botanical gardens, including the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University and the Garden in the Woods, the foremost native plant garden of New England.

Judith graduated from Vassar College and completed graduate studies in systematic botany at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She studied at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and at the British Museum (Natural History) and did extensive field work in the Pacific region on the genus Pittosporum.

She has published monographic studies in the American Journal of Botany, Pollen et Spores, and Allertonia, as well as monographing two families for Flora Vitiensis Nova, the recently published flora of the Fiji Islands. Judith’s book American Household Botany won the American Horticultural Society Book Award. She was awarded the Gertrude B. Foster Award for Excellence in Herbal Literature by the Herb Society of America.
