DESCRIPTION:American Holistic Nurses Association\, Fort Lauderdale Chapter Meeting \nThe Microbiome is a cohesive group of resident micro-organisms that have a wide ranging affect on many areas of the body\, including the gastrointestinal tract as well as the blood–brain barrier. Dysbiosis\, intestinal permeability and other factors have been clearly linked to systemic pro-inflammatory signaling\, which can promote inflammatory neuro-degeneration. Deeper analysis alludes to the presence of universal signals that are channels for interspecies communication\, that different species of bacteria utilize to enhance cooperative actions\, and may also be a channel of communication between the gut and the brain. The pineal gland is the seat of the production of melatonin\, Dimethyltryptamine (DMT)\, and other substances that are involved in circadian rhythms which effect sleep patterns as well as both gut and brain wellness.\n \nIn this presentation\, we will review the physical and psycho-spiritual communication connections involved in the Gut-Brain-Microbiome and the role of the pineal gland and melatonin in these complex interactions.
